Multi Blue

Day 316 This is the latest on the scarf, I'm just over half-way through another section.

Multi Blue

I like this but it doesn't blend as easily as I thought it would with the previous block, the blue in the previous block isn't as prominent as I'd envisaged. But it sets the scene for the remainder, all the rest will have blue tones.

Day 297 Making slow but steady progress on the knitting:

Blue, Yellow, Magenta

I worked out that after this block (which is about half-way through) I have six more to finish the scarf, plus fringing to be added. And it's nearly the end of October, which means nearly the start of the cold weather. I need some serious motivation to kick in soon.

Day 251 Half-way through another scarf section - I love this wool:

Flourescent Rainbow

Not only are the colours fabulous, it's really easy to knit with, the yarn doesn't twist itself or split or do any wierd stuff that wool does when it's not supposed to.

Day 227 Some more knitting. This wool is thinner than all the others, but it's working out OK so far I reckon. I like the colour combination here.

Multi Bright Variegated

This section is about half way through, the next few include some brightly-coloured variegated wool - much brighter than this section, so be warned :)

Day 196 A third of the way through the current wool colour:

Primary Colours

I really like this colour combo. Primary colours but not over-bright, plus the purple and the off-white, and I like how they blend with the previous block.

And shame that Birmingham didn't win the inagural UK City Of Culture title. But Derry is a cool place, I hope they do well from it.

Pink & Purple

Day 178 Half-way through the current section on my scarf, mostly pink and purple with some neutral colours in there too:

Pink & Purple

This has been my in-reserve pic for at least a week, ready to take if I didn't find anything else for the day's photo. So I thought it was high time to actually use this, so I knitted a couple more rows first.

Red, Orange & Pink

Day 148 Thought it was high time I cracked on with some more knitting. I'm now ten rows into the next block of colour, 20 to go.

Red, Orange & Pink

It looks like a bit of a jump from the previous colour here, but they both have orange tones in them and this was the nicest I could find with orange or terracotta tones. The rest should be a smoother transition, even though some of the colours are rather vivid.

Day 122 This is the latest section of my scarf - another pale variegated wool:

Peach, Yellow & White

Day 108 A quick round-up of the new wool I bought recently, including the current scarf colour.

New Wool

Am almost half-way into the current colour, because I can only really do two rows at a time before lack of concentration starts creeping in, I'm trying to do some knitting as soon as I'm up or when I get home, cos then I'm usually ready to do some more later in the day. If I manage to do two sets of two rows every weeknight and at least two sets each day at the weekend, that would mean I can complete a section (30 rows) in a week. It's a high target but one I'm aiming for, even if I don't quite manage it, because the sooner the scarf is done, the sooner I can look to knit something for the baby and to knit more little hats for the Innoncent Smoothies Help The Aged thing.

Light Brown Mix

Day 107 Ten rows into another colour on the scarf, this is one of the recent purchases. I'd intended to buy something with terracotta in the mix, but this is the nearest they had. I think it's nice and understated, even if the peachy-brown in the mix makes me think of Elastoplast or Band-Aids.

I also figured out how to get NASA TV on VLC Player! Recently I downloaded the little enabling file from the NASA TV homepage so I could watch it on Windows Media Player. All you need to do is to open that file in VLC Player, which is more awesome cos you can screencap. Today is undocking, currently the shuttle is finishing its flyaround of the ISS. It all looks so beautiful.

Green & Heather Mix

Day 93 Am half-way through another section of the scarf, and it's finally starting to show the heather-purple it promised when I saw the wool in the shop:

Green & Heather Mix

Looking at what I have left and how to blend everything so there are no jumps of colour, it appears I will need a terracotta or brown mix. All my remaining balls of wool have some blue tones except for one which is white, lemon and peach. A bit of a jump from this one to that, but another ball with terracotta and earth tones would work. Also if possible, a yellow-gold mix to follow that? One of the blue ones has ink blue and bright yellow as the main two colours, so something that would lead into that one a bit smoother would be a good idea. Will need to check out who's open on Monday - the little shop in town has a bigger range but is more likely to be closed for the Bank Holiday than Hobbycraft, which doesn't have the variety but is unlikely to be shut. I also need to finalise how many panels I'm going to have on the completed item. The final panel will be the same as the first (the only one which gets repeated) so I could have a blue-purple mix added in as the penultimate one. If I buy three extra colours, that will take me to 20 colours (21 sections).

Day 66 Have picked up the knitting needles for the first time in a week! Have been doing lots of Uni coursework tho, and that's progressing well. I really like this colour combo, and the wool is slightly rough which makes it really easy to work with.

Day 46 About halfway through the variegated green, and hopefully the crisis that struck in the first few rows won't happen again. I had to undo a couple of rows.

Variegated Green

I think I'll appreciated this section more when it's done. I'm a bit disappointed that the purple isn't more prominent, and the wool has a tendency to unravel its fibres somewhat - not seriously unravelled, but enough to slow me down while knitting. Hopefully the two other balls of wool I bought in this range won't give me the same problem, but if they do, at least their colours are more equally ranged.

Day 30 We went into town today, bought some kitchen stuff, and I bought some variegated wool. Have decided the scarf will be almost all variegated wool, mainly because it's so nice I can't resist it, especially when it's in the bargain bin.

Day 27 and the knitting continues:

Yellow, Green & Blue

Day 24 already 20 rows in to my new colour! I do 30 rows of each colour, got the next one picked out ready but still have plans to buy new colours, particularly new solid colours.

Ice Cream Colours

I like this combo because it looks like delicate fun ice-cream sundae colours. Sweet.
tourmaline: (Default)
Day 20 These were bought for the Christmas holiday, but I noticed yesterday they need to be eaten up by the weekend. I'm sure I can manage them by myself, thank you :P

Sensations Poppadoms

Also: I've just finished the fourth block of colour on my scarf. Think I need to buy some new colours, it's looking on the pastelly side overall which will be more difficult to keep clean. Will take a pic of the new colour in progress in a few day's time.
