Day 351 We had our Christmas lunch from work today. This was my Secret Santa gift:

Scret Santa Lush Goodies

So that's a Christmas Pud, Gingerbread House and Sugar Plum Fairy fizzy-splashy-bath things. They're currently on the windowsill (in their separate bags) making my room smell lovely.

Our meal was delish, the place was really lovely (except I was near the fire doors so I got a bit of a whistling draft, but it's preferable to being too hot) and the staff were very good. It was snowy enough to be picturesque over that side of town, but our main road outside our home is slushy and icy. I hope it'll be OK for me to venture out to work at least one of the two days I'm in next week, so that I can go to Sainsburys. We're due for some more snow over the weekend but it's likely we'll miss out on the worst of it.

Clippy Lippy

Day 285 My latest lipsalve came with a handy clip thing:

Clippy Lippy

It's purple, but you can't really tell cos the light in the pic isn't so good. It's only a simple cheap & cheerful clip, but I thought it was neat. And I'm more often without a pocket than without a belt loop.

Day 265 In case you were wondering, Impulse body spray is still widely available:

Impulse

I don't use it much, more for a little cooling when I'm at home - I have proper grown-up scented body sprays for use when out and about. But it's odd how these cheap and cheerful cosmetics brands - Rimmel makeup is another I guess - surprise you by still being available when you're in your thirties, after they were such a big part of one's teenage life. But then in twenty years' time there will be people saying the same about current equivalent brandnames I'm sure.

Day 250 It's almost time to start a new lipbalm. These are the shortlisted three:

Body America

I've gone with Vermont Va-Va-Voom, because it's more seasonal to early autumn than Toast To The Coast or New York Cheesecake. Although I might be back to one of those as winter approaches, as a reminder of more clement days. Perhaps it's also time to look into another bulk purchase, I usually go to kissfix.com (formerly lipmedic.com) but I'm sure there are others to choose from too. Or to look out for next week when I'm on leave.

Big Powder Brush

Day 231 I just washed my big powder brush. Now I must leave it all night to dry, and it will be clean and soft and fluffy by morning.

Day 220 I just tried waxing my legs for the first time:

Veet

With limited success. Not sure if that's my technique (likely, as it's my first attempt) or the wax strips. Given that their "finishing wipes" are a dry square of wetwipe material with a dot of baby oil in the middle, I'm sure one could pay more and get a better product. I saw this in Boots on Friday and thought it's about time I tried a leg wax. Now I have patchy legs and blobs of wax on them that I can't wash off or scrape off - maybe if I leave them for a while that might help. Not giving up yet cos I want to get my money's worth, but I am seeing the wisdom in getting this done bespokely by a beautician.

Day 205 Cos I just powdered with this:

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder

I couldn't figure it at first, then I realised the bottom section twisted and there was a mirror and applicator after all. I've been using this for a month or so now and I really like it, much preferable to the Clinique pressed powder I had before.
