Day 287 Amongst the mismatched cutlery at work (not enough forks or teaspoons) is a single soup spoon:

The first soup spoon I saw wasn't a real soup spoon, it (or rather all four of them) belonged to the dining room set for my Sindy doll townhouse I received one Christmas - table, chairs, four complete place settings. I remember being shocked at the impudence of such roundness in a spoon. I don't remember where or when I saw my first real soup spoon, but I've continued to admire the boldness of soup spoons, where all other cutlery goes for a smooth and streamlined shape, here's an implement that dares to be as bold and primitively-shaped as it can be. And of course, it's the most practical shape for a spoon to be used for soup, which only adds to its glory. But no matter how much a soup spoon is designed to elegantly resemble its sister spoons, knives and forks, it will always stand out, like a beautiful curvaceous woman in a crowd of tall thin women.
