Day 244 The new card for my cable box finally arrived today, after many days of being greeted with a message of "Your new card is on its way" every time I switched my cable box on. This is the old card which I'm about to shred:

We originally got cable installed in 1997, it was a company called ComTel back then, one of lots of local cable TV companies in the country at the time. Eventually the bigger ones bought out the smaller ones, got bought out themselves, and we ended up with three companies - Sky, TeleWest, and ntl (who had bought ComTel). TeleWest merged into ntl and were then bought by Virgin Media, which is how we ended up with Virgin here. Apparently this new card will mean access to exciting new TV or something. I'd be happy with less episodes of Only Fools And Horses and Last Of The Summer Wine: The Crap Years.
