Snow And Ice
Friday, February 19th, 2010 09:28 amDay 50 We had heavy snow yesterday, well into the early hours of this morning. It's starting to melt but the roads are still icy, particularly the side roads like the one I would have to negotiate to get anywhere. So, for the time being I am working from home, which is OK because today's work is website stuff. This is one of the trees in our garden.

The Biscuit Tin
Thursday, February 18th, 2010 06:33 pmDay 49 This is the current state of our biscuit tin in our team at work. Looks good.

Thankfully I still have some Hotel Chocolat goodies at home. It's been snowing again this afternoon, pretty moderately at work but heavy everywhere else, with the result that it took me 90 minutes to get home instead of 30. Hardly any visibility at all. When I got home, I was reversing into the drive in the way that Dad showed me how to the other week when we had all the snow, but after just 2 attempts he was all "OMG get out the car, I'll do it". And this was with everyone in the street watching. And then he forgot where reverse is again (he doesn't do manual gearboxes) so that was nice & crunchy for my gearbox. And now I have Archaeology reading to do, hope it gets on to some science soon cos I'm losing interest. Plain history and planning law are not my idea of exciting and inspiring study.

Misty Morning
Thursday, January 21st, 2010 06:11 pmDay 21 This was the view looking out of the car park at work, towards other car parks and the backs of houses & gardens off the back main road.

Cool thing about this is that there was no mist over my side of the city, it was only when you got close to where the business park is that you could see it. I drive down the main road of a council estate near work, there's a big open space between the first street of houses and the railway bridge, and you could see the ball of mist over the grass. Awesome.

Even More Snow
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 05:18 pmDay 13 It snowed again - overnight, and then steadily until about 3.30 this afternoon, but most of the daytime snow was very fine-grain so it didn't settle, there was just the overnight stuff. Here is a pic taken out the window at work:

Dad drove me to & from work, his car is 4x4 drive so it managed fine, mine would have been troublesome I reckon. We didn't set out until about 9.45 as there was a long queue of traffic in our road. But work got done, there were lots of us from our team in (more than often are in on a standard weather-neutral day) and we all left between 3.30 and 4pm. It's forecast to be icy on the roads tomorrow morning, so will have to see if or when I go in.

Day 6 and it's so snowy and icy I'm working from home. Which was easy this morning on the tricky stuff but is proving difficult and complicated for doing the straightforward stuff.
The sun came out! Here's the snow on top of the side extension:

In other news Endeavour is now at the Pad for STS-130 next month! Looking fabulous too.

Day 5 The snow at work wasn't too bad, and neither was the drive home. But reversing into the carport was tricky, Dad came down to see and ended up doing the reversing for me (once he'd figured out where Reverse was on the gearstick). Today has two pictures:

The car park at work, before the snow got driven on at lunchtime

Snow on a treebranch
It's coming down much thicker here. If I do go into work tomorrow, it's unlikely to be in my car. If the main roads are OK then the buses should be running, but our cars are in a cul-de-sac on a gradient, and that's after the many-pointed turn of getting them onto the road. Not going in to work means I can't do my ezine which is due for publication tomorrow, because I can't work on it from home. But that's a decision to make in 12 hours time, at least. Maybe it will clear enough for me to go in for a few hours. I shall see.

Random Stuff
Saturday, July 21st, 2007 09:55 pmIt's gone really cold tonight. Yesterday we didn't get any of the mad rain, but some friends who live in South Warwickshire faced a long diverted drive home.
This picture was taken in Coventry, but I don't recognise it - it looks like it could be near the city centre, going by the car park and the churchy-type building in the background.
I'm watching a videotape of 8 hours worth of various QI eps I've taped since last winter, but I think one ep is duplicated :(
I've downloaded loads more 8bf plugins, and also a copy of VCW VicMan's Photo Editor, which I used to have on the old PC about four years ago. So lots of playing around with graphics filters, have about 400 interpretations of some rustic roses so far, and lots more to come.
It stopped raining enough for me to take some photos of the garden this afternoon. Took about 50 in 15 minutes.
My current lipsalve (Gator Gubba SPF15 Pineapple-Vanilla flavour) appears to have lasted forever, as I don't need to use it very often. Which would be fine if it was a nicer flavour.
Out of all the Emmy Nominations that House has garnered, the one I think most likely to win is David Morse for Outstanding Guest Appearance. But I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Hugh wins too!!!
