Inspired by very recent events - a little dialogue-only piece revealing who is responsible. Written in less than an hour and unbeta'd.

“Come over for dinner and a movie, you said”
“Yeah. Well, this is dinner, and that’s a movie you’re missing. Why don’t you go and watch it?”
“Aren’t you going to join me?”
“I have to do this. I want Jack Bauer to win, and he won’t win if I’m sitting on the couch watching a movie.”
“OK, let’s pretend I’m interested. What is it exactly?”
“’Who do you rate the hunkiest guy of 2007?’ See, there’s twelve of them, including some people even you’ve heard of. This time yesterday, Jack was behind by 7000, but thanks to me, he’s in the lead and surging ahead.”
“Surging ahead of a guy who looks like you, apparently.”
“He does not look like me. Look at that hair.”
“You’re right, he’s smiling, that’s definitely most unlike you. Come on, you specifically hinted at wanting my Thai green curry tonight.”
“I need to be here for this. You can vote every ten minutes.”
“So, vote now and go back after ten minutes. But in between voting, come and eat dinner and watch the movie with me. If you don’t want my company, it’s not too late for me to go to Cuddy’s party, and you can see the New Year in on the couch. Or at your computer. Alone.”
“And if I eat dinner and watch the movie with you, you’ll stay?”
“I can stay. And I can promise you a better way of celebrating the New Year than Jack Bauer can.”

Date: 2008-01-01 07:14 pm (UTC)I decided I wasn't going to let the voting thing bug me too much, it would have been nice if Hugh had led all the way, but I'm not going to get upset if he doesn't win. This idea came to me last night and I thought it was a good benign way of explaining the sudden surge in votes for Keifer Sutherland.
I wonder if it's been covered in the 24 fandom? :D

Date: 2008-01-01 10:30 pm (UTC)I think that's the best way to see it. :) I did some voting for a while using the opening and closing the browser technique but only as a light-hearted distraction and not enough to drive me mad. Actually, to me "Hunkiest Guy" doesn't seem quite the right description for Hugh. It's not exactly the most elegant of phrases, is it? I think "Most Attractive Man" has a bit more dignity. Not that the thought of him being the "Hunkiest Guy" isn't amusing. "Second Hunkiest Guy After Kiefer Sutherland" is also pretty amusing when you think about it. What a lot of nonsense it all is! Or how preposterous as Hugh might say. :)

hee! too funny!
