Hmmmm.... *g* Bloody politicians...

What page have you taken that from, btw? I'd quite like to go and read the articles.

It's the front page of the BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk) website. They do a big-across-half-the-page headline for the really big stories.

He seems less flashy than Blair, which is a good thing. He did agree with Blair consistently for ten years, so I'm not expecting great or highly principled things, but he sure knows what needs to be fixed.

Work-wise (I work in social housing) I think we're on to better things with PM Brown, he did do some good stuff in our direction (and towards related areas) as Chancellor. And he's said the Housing Minister will now attend Cabinet meetings, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that makes a difference too.

I am curious--how do you compare Brown against Blair, even though its kind of early to say?

I'm going by their past records - 10 years in Government, three years before that as Opposition Leader & Shadow Chancellor. They have very different approaches and inspirations - Blair is a barrister by profession, and you can tell by the manner he would present his case in the Commons and in speeches, he makes a case for things in the same way a barrister would. Brown was a lecturer and TV news researcher/reporter/producer before entering politics, and always cites his biggest influence being his late father, a clergyman. His politics is more about helping people in the most need, of the two Brown has always stood out as being the one with the sense of social responsibility.

We were talking about it today at work as the news came through about who was in the new Cabinet - everyone is hopeful and looking forward to seeing what we can do.
