I took a day off work today, to visit the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in the centre of Coventry - it's currently hosting an exhibition on Children's Television.
There was lots I remember, and lots I remember wanting at the time but not getting (eg Grange Hill annuals). I remember this Doctor Who merchandise:

They also had this chap:

I was glad that they had a few bits about the technical side, including this:

Here's a flyer for the exhibition, along with my souvenirs - I always buy a pen as a souvenir wherever I go:

I had a look round the rest of the exhibits too, as it's the first time I've been for many years, and the first time since it was extended. They have lots of stuff about the history of Coventry, like the ribbon-weaving and car industries, the wartime bombing and the creation of the peace and reconciliation organisations, and the 2-Tone music. I also took this photo of one of the stairwells:

There was lots of this kind of Festival Of Britain-style architecture in Coventry (given that the bombing meant there was so much to rebuild), but a lot has since been replaced.
The Children's TV exhibition is touring other places after it finishes at the Herbert in September. See it if you can.
