This is Chammy The Space Duck, who entered my life yesterday. He was bought for me by my awesome friend Sharon, who saw him and immediately thought of me. Which is such a sweet thought and a lovely surprise to return to work to. Isn't his Advanced Crew Escape Suit so cool?

I named him Chammy after Greg Chamitoff, member of the STS-124 crew who is coming to the end of his six-month stay on the ISS and will return to Earth with the current mission, STS-126.

He's great! :)

I've just seen this video on the BBC News website. I expect you already know all about it but here it is just in case: Spacewalker drops tool bag.

I'm amazed by how astronauts manage not to freak out while doing spacewalks. As in, "OMG! I'm in space! There's the Earth! Aaargh!" I suppose it must be because they've done a lot of preparation and are too intent on what they're trying to accomplish. I wonder if they have to do psychological tests before they become astronauts to make sure they're able to cope with it.
